CoachArt’s 1-on-1 and group lessons have traditionally taken place in person. But now that everyone’s using “social distancing” to avoid coronavirus, we’re using online lessons to enable our volunteer coaches to continue to add magic to our students’ lives. See what we’re offering below.

Live Online CoachArt Clubs – CoachArt is hosting online Clubs using Zoom, an online video conferencing service. Kids and teens receive live instruction and interact with each other and their coach in our virtual classroom.

Online 1-on-1 Coaching – Our volunteer coaches are utilizing video chat to provide 1-on-1 instruction for all sorts of arts and athletic lessons including music, dance, art, cooking, yoga, and more!

Baking: Bake Pecan Pie Cookies! Join Coach Jess in the kitchen for a fun guided baking lesson. Kids will be able to follow along to bake their own vegan cookies inspired by pecan pie. This recipe is as easy as it is delicious!

NOTE: Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, this lesson will be pre-recorded and posted on IGTV rather than on Facebook Live.

Ingredients and supplies: 1 cup pecans
1 cup rolled oats (or 1 cup oat/almond flour)
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons ground flaxseed
1 teaspoon vanilla
pinch of sea salt
3-4 tablespoons of maple syrup
whipped cream (if you want vegan cookies, use a dairy free product)
mixing bowl
whisk or fork
baking sheet
parchment paper
blender or food processor
measuring cups

Drawing: Join Coach Byron for a bright and colorful drawing lesson. With step-by-step instruction, kids will be able to follow along and draw a snow-frosted winter mountain range. All are welcome!

Materials: Any paper, and anything to color with.

12 pm Pacific Time

Painting: Join Coach Erick for a guided painting lesson inspired by Polar Dinosaurs! With step-by-step instruction, kids will be able to follow along and complete a rendition of this artwork. No experience necessary, just the desire to have fun!

Materials: 1 Canvas panel: Erick will use an 11? x 14? size, but any size works. You can substitute cardstock paper.
2 Paintbrushes: one round brush, and one flat brush. But any paintbrushes you have will be OK.
Acrylic paint: Erick will use blue, red, white, and black, but you’re welcome to use any colors you have. Watercolors are a suitable substitution.
A paint palette: a paper plate or recycled cardboard is fine.
A disposable water cup.
An apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Painting: Join Coach Jess for an awesome winter-themed 3-D painting lesson. With step by step instruction, kids will learn to use salt and watercolor to create their own winter snowflakes!

Drawing: Join Coach Byron for a bright and colorful drawing lesson. With step-by-step instruction, kids will be able to follow along and draw a stunning landscape with the Northern Lights reflected in a mirror lake. All are welcome!

Materials: Any paper, and anything to color with.
