CoachArt improves the social and emotional wellbeing of kids impacted by chronic illness by providing free personalized art and athletic lessons.
CoachArt serves U.S. children with a serious physical illness, and their siblings between the ages of 5-18. See a list of qualifying diagnoses here.
Volunteers commit to coach just four 1-hour lessons, either online or in person. CoachArt covers the cost of materials. You don’t have to be a pro… just be your caring self!
Anyone who knows a family impacted by childhood chronic illness can tell them about CoachArt! Often, families hear about us from doctors, nurses, and social workers.

CoachArt requires all volunteer coaches to clear the highest level of background check through Sterling Volunteers. They must also attend a live training and orientation. Volunteers and employees sign a strict confidentiality agreement. CoachArt only shares “need to know” medical information with volunteers — not diagnoses. The CoachArt Connect app, used by volunteers and families to schedule and conduct lessons, does not display any contact information about CoachArt families. CoachArt video links are password protected. CoachArt requires a parent/guardian to be within eye- and ear-shot at all times during CoachArt activities.
