Dance Skill Assessment Activity

Fa-Fa-Fa-Freestyle

  1. Ask your student what their favorite song to dance to is. If they don’t have one, or can’t think of one on the spot, choose something light and fun and play it on your phone or speakers.
  2. Assure the student that this just is a warm-up song, and there’s no pressure. All you want to do is use the time to get loose and feel inspired. Encourage them to try out new moves, old moves, and everything in between. This is a freestyle, there are no rules!
  3. To get them feeling more comfortable, partake in the warm up with them, and bust out some crazy moves yourself!
  4. Be sure to take note of the student’s confidence performing, skill level, and range of moves. Use this information to help plan what you want to focus on first.
