National School Breakfast Week: The Importance of a Nutritious Breakfast for Students
Every year, School Nutrition Association sponsors National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) during the first full week in March! The SNA is a national organization of school nutrition professionals committed to advancing the quality of school meal programs through education and advocacy, showing parents, students, and school officials the benefits of fueling up for the day with a healthy school breakfast.
According to Health-e Pro, National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) promotes the importance of healthy choices for breakfast by getting parents and students involved. Parents are encouraged to learn more about their local school nutrition program and initiatives in local schools to help children make healthy choices in the morning. National School Breakfast Week also encourages schools to participate to increase breakfast participation among students.
Did you know that students who eat breakfast have better attention and memory? Research indicates the quality of foods children eat impacts cognition—with poor nutrition linked with psychosocial problems.
