Go Gold to Support Childhood Cancer Awareness MonthSeptember is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month! As a nonprofit, CoachArt serves families impacted by childhood chronic illnesses, including pediatric cancers, every day. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity for everyone to share awareness to show support for kids and families impacted by childhood cancer.

Childhood cancer is the #1 disease-related cause of death for children in the United States.

Each September, people are invited to “Go Gold” and raise awareness for research that leads to safer treatments, cures, and outcomes. The international childhood cancer awareness symbol is the gold ribbon. Unlike other cancer awareness ribbons, which focus on a singular type of cancer, the gold ribbon is a symbol for all forms of cancer affecting children and adolescents.

Over the month of September, CoachArt will be featuring information, personal stories, posts, and podcasts that spotlight the need for childhood cancer awareness, support families who are fighting, and to help make childhood cancer a priority a national health priority.

Childhood Cancer Statistics:

  1. Every year in the United States, approximately 15,780 children (ages 0-19) are diagnosed with cancer.
  2. Approximately 1 in 285 United States children will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 20.
  3. Globally, more than 300,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year.
  4. 20% of children with cancer in the United States will not survive.
  5. A child is diagnosed with cancer every 3 minutes.
  6. Cancer is still the number 1 disease-related cause of death for children in America.
