15th Annual Gala of Champions: Magic Moments captured on video with CoachArt kids and volunteer coaches!

On October 10th, 2019, we held our 15th annual CoachArt Gala of Champions at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, honoring Headspace CFO Sean Brecker, which raised more than $600,000 for CoachArt programs that benefit kids impacted by chronic and life-threatening illnesses. The evening featured inspiring speeches from our Gala Honorees, Sean Brecker, and Allison Homes (Senior Director of Operations & Strategy at the Annenberg Foundation), as well as performances from CoachArt kids and their adult mentors.

CoachArt supporters, donors, partners, sponsors, board members, volunteers, students, and families all helped make the 15th annual CoachArt Gala of Champions a memorable event! The event theme was “Linking LA,” which highlights the life-changing link between students and coaches. To celebrate this link, CoachArt students joined volunteer coaches to participate in the Gala as red carpet hosts, artists, photographers, co-hosts, and entertainers. Enjoy these 3 magic moments (captured on video) with CoachArt students and their volunteer coaches!

CoachArt Photo Club Students and Junior Volunteers Capture Memories at the Gala of Champions

With the help of junior volunteer coaches, Los Angeles CoachArt Photography Club students helped us create lasting memories at the 15th annual CoachArt Gala of Champions. Photo club students learned the fundamentals of photography, how to use a camera, and learned post-production editing!

About CoachArt

CoachArt provides a transformative learning community for children impacted by chronic illness by providing no-cost lessons in the arts and athletics. CoachArt was founded in 2000 by Zander Lurie and Leah Bernthal in memory of Zander’s father, Dr. Arthur Lurie, a cardiac surgeon who recognized the need for long-term support and enrichment among the pediatric patient population. Today, CoachArt offers 12,000 hours of high-quality arts and athletics activities to 500 children each year with the support of 400 volunteers and 85 partner organizations.

Making a Difference for Families Impacted by Childhood Chronic Illness

Since 2001, CoachArt has matched volunteer coaches with students for one-on-one or group lessons in arts and athletics. Our vision is that one day every family impacted by chronic illness will be connected to a community of support and an opportunity to learn and grow together.

CoachArt offers free art and athletic lessons to chronically ill children and their siblings between the ages of 5-18 in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and San Diego. If your child has been diagnosed with a chronic condition, we invite you to fill out a student eligibility form or get in touch to learn if CoachArt is right for your child.
